October is an important month for corporate gifting in Vancouver. Canadian Thanksgiving arrives on Monday, October 12, giving businesses a natural moment to think about the clients, employees and partners who have contributed to the year.
Clients who trusted you with their business. Employees who contributed throughout the year. Partners who referred, supported and worked alongside you. October is a good time to decide how you want to thank them.
After 33 years of creating corporate gifts for Vancouver businesses, I have learned that the most successful holiday programs rarely begin in December. They begin with a conversation in October. Early planning gives you more choice, more room for personalization and better delivery options for your recipients.
Start With Who You Are Thanking
Before choosing the gift, think about the relationship. Is this a long-standing client? A new customer? An employee reaching an important milestone? A referral partner who consistently sends business your way?
Most businesses find it helpful to group recipients before choosing products. Long-standing clients may call for a different level of gift than a newer relationship. Your internal team may enjoy something warm and shared, while referral partners may appreciate a gift that reflects the quality of your working relationship. Once the groups are clear, the choices become much easier.
Let Personalization Carry Your Message
A gift becomes memorable when it reflects the giver. Your logo on a beautifully designed sleeve, gift card or keepsake item, a message written in your own voice, or a selection of BC-made products that reflects your Vancouver roots can make the gift distinctly yours.
Local flavours, artisan chocolates and West Coast pantry favourites are especially popular during the holiday season because they bring a sense of place to the experience.
Our charcuterie board, shown above, is a favourite this season because it carries a logo naturally. The cheese knives and stemless wine glasses that accompany it can be branded as well, so the whole set feels intentional rather than like a single promotional item placed in a box. Once the gourmet items have been enjoyed, the useful branded pieces remain.
This is where corporate gifting and branded merchandise work especially well together: one memorable presentation, with useful branded pieces that continue to be enjoyed afterward.
Personalization also works beautifully at scale. A curated box design can be repeated across fifty or two hundred recipients while each gift still carries a personal message. This helps larger teams give consistently while keeping the presentation personal and polished.
Celebrate the Full Calendar of Traditions
Vancouver workplaces bring together many cultures, and holiday gifting can recognize that thoughtfully. Diwali falls on November 8 this year, and a gift sent ahead of it, such as a beautifully packaged assortment of sweets, nuts and dried fruits, can be a thoughtful way to recognize an important celebration.
The same planning principle applies to Christmas, Hanukkah and other celebrations observed by your recipients. Planning early gives you time to understand what is meaningful to the people on your list rather than relying on one gift for everyone.
Dietary preferences and allergies are also worth gathering at the start of your planning. When those details are known in October, it is much easier to create a program where recipients can genuinely enjoy what they receive.
A Calm October to December Timeline
October: Plan
Confirm recipient groups, budgets, gifting levels, dietary requirements and branding.
Late October to Early November: Curate and Approve
Choose gifts, approve branded merchandise, cards, sleeves and personalization, and confirm delivery timing.
Mid-November onward: Produce and Deliver
Assembly, kitting, packing, shipping, tracking and delivery begin.
Corporate orders placed earlier allow more time for thoughtful details and make it easier to match delivery dates to recipient schedules, including offices that close early in December. A plan made now gives December more room to feel celebratory.
One Partner to Manage the Details
For many of our corporate clients, the greatest value is having one partner manage the details. We can curate the gifts, source branded merchandise, accommodate dietary requirements, add personalized messaging, assemble and pack each gift, and coordinate shipping across Canada or internationally. You have one point of contact and one less holiday project to manage.
