Mothers are worthy of our deep admiration – not just gratitude. My mother raised a brood of ten children, which required incredible work ethic, skill and care. She also had the best taste. I made my first ever gift basket for my mother at the age of fourteen and I desperately sought her approval. When she told me she liked it, I was thrilled! My mother was my inspiration and guiding light, and still continues to council me even though her physical presence is no longer with us.

I feel great admiration for many maternal figures in my life. My mother-in-law came down to care for our son each year during Green & Green’s busiest season of year. Over the years, she has cooked endless home-cooked meals and hosted family holidays and visits that I value. At 86, my mother-in-law still plays bridge twice a week, gardens, knits, paints and volunteers at the Penticton caterac surgery. I want to be like her when I grow up!

Join the Rotary Club for the “Ride For Hearing”, the 35th Annual Bike-A-Thon!

The 120km ride from Brentwood Town Centre to Harrison Hot Springs Resort takes cyclists through the beautiful Fraser Valley. There are several checkpoints along the way for refreshments, security cars en route in case anyone gets into difficulty, a repair van to assist with those inevitable blown tires and an enthusiastic welcoming committee at the finish. The resort spas are open for your enjoyment and the day is concluded with a delicious banquet and prizes galore.
