Happy Canada Day!
From 8:00 a.m. to midnight, celebrate Canada Day on Granville Island with a pancake breakfast, parade, live jazz courtesy of Coastal Jazz and Blues Society, the False Creek Ferry ballet, and South Asian-themed food and fashion show by MELA.
Canada Place Street Festival & Parade from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. features the Canada Citizenship Ceremony. Attractions and activities include the Canuck Road, the Great Canadian Art Experience, an interactive Spectacular Northwest Territories Dome, and music and entertainers on 3 stages. Headliners for 2012 include Spirit of the West, Alex Cuba, and ShowStoppers. The parade starts at 7:00 p.m. and the fireworks at 10:30 p.m.
2012 Surrey Canada Day celebrations are the largest in western Canada and the largest free outdoor concert venue in BC. A spectacular fireworks display is planned for 10:15 p.m. The Sam Roberts band headlines, along with Juno nominee Hannah Georgas and Jordan Cook, the first Canadian rocker to tour China. Enjoy the Midway rides, have your face painted, or transport yourself to another time and place with storytellers.
Steveston Salmon Festival gets started early – 6:30 a.m. – and runs until 5:00 p.m. The festival includes a parade, craft shows, cultural events, and the famous salmon barbecue, where over 1200 pounds of wild salmon filets are grilled over open fire pits.
Burrard Inlet Fireworks Show is a unique two barge simultaneous pyrotechnic extravaganza that lights up the sky and is visible from numerous locations in Coal Harbour, Stanley Park, West Vancouver and North Vancouver.
