August Newsletter - Turn the Dial up a Notch

Summer and music are the perfect blend for an upswing in your mood.

One of my all-time summer favourites is Bob Marley’s “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright”. Music is always uplifting, and the benefits are incredible.

Music has a direct effect on our body – so much so, that our hearts actually synch with the rhythm.

Lively, happy music elevates our mood, reduce stress and pain, relieve feelings of sadness or depression, while encouraging us to move to the beat, and get up and dance.

Although we may react (both physically and mentally) to different styles of music in our own way, all music has a positive effect on our brain.

So, whether its salsa, hip hop, rap, bhangra, or rock, turn up the dial a notch and spread you good mood and bring on the fun.

"Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!”

Lately I have been hearing comments that summer is ending – I disagree; it “officially” ends September 21st.

Get outside, enjoy the beautiful weather, and soak up lots of vitamin D. There’s lots of time in August and September for outdoor fun. Make the most of what summer has to offer and with you being in a great mood, enjoying music, it’s time to plan an epic outdoor event!

For any successful outdoor activity, follow these easy guidelines. Things to consider are mostly just good sense, and something we often take for granted, but are worthy of a reminder.

Location
  • Select a location that is a respectful distance from other groups so everyone can enjoy the day.
  • Keep your music low and pets in tow.
  • For comfort, try to have both sun and shade for the duration of the picnic.
  • Bring sun umbrellas and hats for extra sun protection if possible.
  • Be sure your dogs have plenty of shade, water, and are on leash.
